The reference rate is determined by the Riksbank every six months and serves no monetary policy purpose. The reference rate is present in the interest rate levels, for example. Its precursor was the discount rate, which was used until 28 June 2002.
The reference rate is determined every six months and corresponds with the Riksbank's repo rate at the end of the previous six month period. If, at this point in time, the figure for the repo rate is not at a round half or whole percentage point, then the reference rate is rounded up to the nearest half percentage point.
