Riksbank's 350th anniversary commemorated by new stamp

News PostNord is issuing two new stamps in 2018 to commemorate the 350th anniversary of Sveriges Riksbank.

The motifs on the stamps are a graphic design of figures and mathematical symbols. These are the economist's tools for making forecasts. On these stamps they are converted into art - a tribute to the Riksbank that has over the centuries contributed to a strong and secure economy in Sweden.

"It is an honour that PostNord is choosing to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the Riksbank. We are of course proud and pleased that the oldest central bank in the world is going to be commemorated on a stamp for the second time. The first time was on the 300th anniversary of the Riksbank," says Ann-Leena Mikiver, Director of Communications at Sveriges Riksbank.

The Riksbank was established in 1668 and is the oldest central bank in the world. The bank's task is to contribute to good economic growth in Sweden. The Riksbank is now a modern central bank with operations that are constantly being developed. Essentially, however, the task remains the same as it has always been – to create the conditions for good economic growth, economic stability and growth in Sweden.
