Collecting information

The Riksbank regularly collects information from various sources to be able to assess the stability of the financial system.

Financial market statistics from both Statistics Sweden and the Riksbank’s own sources

The Riksbank has commissioned Statistics Sweden (SCB) to compile financial market statistics (www.scb.se). These statistics consist of information on Swedish financial institutions and Swedish financial markets. They are gathered every month and include information on liabilities and assets among companies in the financial sector, current lending and borrowing rates and other information.

The Riksbank also gathers statistics itself from banks and financial market infrastructures. These include, for example, information on the banks’ commitments to each other and on the number of transactions in the financial infrastructure.

Dialogue on risks

The Riksbank also holds an ongoing dialogue with market participants to obtain their views of risks and market functioning as part of the analysis of risks and threats to the stability of the Swedish financial system. The Riksbank sends out the Financial Markets Survey to participants active in the Swedish fixed-income and foreign exchange markets. The purpose of the survey is to gain an overall picture of participants’ views on the functioning of the Swedish financial markets, market activity and what risks they see in the Swedish financial system going forward.

International partnerships

The Riksbank also collects information through its international partnerships.
