SEK 1.6 billion remaining – the banks will accept invalid coins for 3 more weeks

Press release There are still coins to a value of SEK 1.6 billion in circulation that became invalid earlier this year. For a further three weeks, until Thursday 31 August, you can still deposit these coins in a bank account.

The banks accept the older 1, 2 and 5-krona coins until 31 August 2017

The 1, 2 and 5-krona coins that became invalid earlier this year can be deposited into your bank account up to and including 31 August 2017. There are 1 018 million coins to a value of SEK 1.6 billion, consisting of the older 1, 2 and 5-krona coins.

The Riksbank does not redeem invalid coins

The banks accept the older 100 and 500-krona coins until 30 June 2018

The 100 and 500-krona banknotes that became invalid earlier this year can be deposited into your bank account up to and including 30 June 2018. After 30 June 2018, the Riksbank can redeem the invalid banknotes for an administration fee of SEK 100. The banks and the Riksbank apply the provisions of the money laundering act, which means that you may be asked questions as to where the money comes from. You may also have to present copies of receipts, agreements or invoices.
