Monetary Policy Reports and Updates

The Executive Board normally holds eight monetary policy meetings per year, at which it takes decisions on monetary policy. A Monetary Policy Report is published in conjunction with every second meeting, four times a year, while a shorter document, a Monetary Policy Update, is published in conjunction with each of the other four meetings.

As of 2024, the Executive Board normally holds eight monetary policy meetings per year, at which it takes decisions on monetary policy. In conjunction with every second meeting, four times per year, a Monetary Policy Report is published which summarises the basis for the monetary policy decision along with forecasts stretching three years ahead. No new forecasts are published in conjunction with the other four meetings. An assessment of how new information affects the prospects for economic activity, inflation and monetary policy and the motives for the Executive Board’s monetary policy decisions is presented on these occasions in a shorter document, a Monetary Policy Update.
