Retrieving interest rates and exchange rates via API

The Riksbank has an open API (Application Programming Interface) that allows users to automatically retrieve interest rates and exchange rates from the Riksbank.

The API for interest rates and exchange rates is a REST API that makes it possible to collect the most recently published interest rate and exchange rate values or previous publications for a time period. The API can be used free of charge, but the number of calls that can be made during a period of time from a given IP address is limited. If you need to make more calls, it is also possible to register as a user in the Riksbank’s API portal.

The API portal

Technical documentation for developers, information on published APIs and the possibility of registering users can be found in the Riksbank’s API portal. The portal also contains information on how the Riksbank processes your personal data when using the API.

The Riksbank’s outgoing SOAP API for interest rates and exchange rates

The Riksbank’s SOAP API for interest rates and exchange rates will be phased out on 27 May 2024 and we therefore recommend existing consumers of this SOAP API to plan for a migration to the new REST API as soon as possible.

DISCLAIMERS

Exchange rates are indicative only and are published by the Riksbank for information purposes. They should therefore not be used for transactional purposes.
