Public holidays

For information on days which are statutory public holidays in Sweden, see the Act (1989:253) on Public Holidays on the Swedish Parliament, the Riksdag’s website (only in Swedish). 

Days for payment processing

Information regarding payment processing days should be obtained from payment system operators or from the relevant banks.

The industry organisation, the Swedish Bankers’ Association, provides the following information on its website: Public holidays on which banks are closed in 2026.

RIX payments system opening hours

The Riksbank operates the Swedish payment system, RIX. RIX has two settlement services: RIX-RTGS and RIX-INST. RIX-RTGS is for large-value payments, and is open on weekdays from 7am to 6pm. RIX-INST is for small and instant payments, and is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
