The Riksbank today starts publishing average rates and an index for SWESTR

News From today, the Riksbank will provide average rates and an index for SWESTR. The average rates can be used in new financial contracts and can also act as an alternative interest rate to be used in the event of STIBOR (Stockholm Interbank Offered Rate) being discontinued or becoming temporarily unavailable. The index allows users to easily calculate average rates for any time period.

Today, the Riksbank has published average rates and an index based on SWESTR for the first time. Going forward, the Riksbank will publish average rates for periods of 1 week, 1 month, and 2, 3 and 6 months. Since the average rates are based on published values for SWESTR as from 1 September, average rates for the time periods 1 week and 1 month will be published as from today. Average rates for the time periods 2, 3 and 6 months will start to be published from 1 November 2021, 1 December 2021 and 1 March 2022 respectively.

Today, the Riksbank is also publishing an updated information document about SWESTR. The revisions consist mainly of clarifications and are made in the light of questions and views expressed by various stakeholders on the document.
