For reporting agents
The Riksbank will collect payments statistics from payment service providers and payment system operators on an ongoing basis starting on 1 October 2026. Test reporting is currently underway and all payment service providers and payment system operators should have started their test reporting, at the latest, by September 1, 2026.On this page, the Riksbank will publish information on the reporting of payments statistics.
About the reporting
Payments statistics are divided into two parts: payments statistics collected from payment service providers and payments statistics collected from payment system operators.
Who shall report payments statistics?
Payment service providers and payment system operators domiciled in Sweden shall report statistics to the Riksbank. It also applies to foreign payment service providers with a branch in Sweden. If a payment service provider or payment system operator has activities abroad, statistics should only be reported for payments that take place directly cross-border and not via branches or subsidiaries abroad. Payment service providers that only provide account information services do not need to report statistics.
You can read more in the Riksbank's regulations on reporting payment statistics 2025:1.
