The King and Queen visit the Riksbank

News King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia today visited the Riksbank and were given a presentation on the Riksbank's activities, with a focus on contingency planning. The visit also included a guided tour of the Riksbank building at Brunkebergstorg in Stockholm.

The King and Queen were welcomed by Governor Erik Thedéen and Chairman of the General Council Bo Broman, who spoke about the Riksbank as an institution and the Riksbank's overall responsibility for preparedness.

Subsequently, various experts from the Riksbank presented an in-depth view of preparedness for the general public's payments in crisis and war, as well as the payment system and cash. The Royal Couple were also given an insight into how monetary policy decisions are made and implemented in crisis situations and at times of heightened alert, how crisis management works within financial stability and the current economic situation. The entire Executive Board was present and had the opportunity to answer questions.

The visit started with a guided tour of the architecture and history of the Riksbank building and ended with a presentation on the upcoming remodelling.
