New research agenda for the Riksbank
News The Executive Board of the Riksbank has decided on a research agenda for the Riksbank. The purpose of the research agenda is to disseminate information about the research conducted at the Riksbank and the areas we consider important for future research and analysis. The agenda contains four research areas: New challenges in money, banking and payments, the monetary transmission mechanism under the microscope, structural transitions and the interaction between monetary, fiscal and financial stability policies.
The four areas of the Research Agenda
1.New challenges in money, banking and payments
We explore how changes in the financial system affect the resilience of banks, financial markets and the payments market.
2. The monetary transmission mechanism under the microscope
We use micro data and models with different types of households and companies to investigate the basic functioning of the monetary transmission mechanism and its implications for the macroeconomy.
3. Structural transitions: labour market, demography and the green economy
We analyse the macroeconomic and financial implications of these structural changes with the aid of both aggregate data and microdata at the household and corporate level.
4. Monetary, fiscal and financial stability policies in interaction
We study how these three areas of macroeconomic stabilisation interact to affect aggregate demand, risk-taking and long-term credibility.
Modern methods, new data sources and relevant perspectives
Common to all areas is that the analysis is conducted using modern methods (including artificial intelligence), new data sources (including micro data and large data sets) and with perspectives that are relevant to the Swedish economy (including analysis for an open economy).
