Governor Erik Thedéen is in London on Thursday to present the Executive Board's monetary policy decision to leave the interest rate unchanged at 1.75 per cent.

“We are expecting the policy rate to remain at this level for some time to come. Our assessment is that it will help strengthen economic activity and stabilise inflation close to the target in the medium term. However, the outlook for economic activity and inflation is uncertain and we are still vigilant regarding developments.”

Mr Thedéen also commented on today's preliminary inflation outcome:

“Our assessment is that the elevated inflation this year is transitory. I would say this still applies even though the flash CPI was a bit higher than expected. When we get the full outcome, we will of course analyse the details further.”
