Governor Erik Thedéen visits Gothenburg

News Today, Riksbank Governor Erik Thedéen is visiting Gothenburg to present the Riksbank's latest monetary policy decision and discuss inflation and interest rates.

“The task the Riksdag has given us is crystal clear: Ensure that inflation is brought down and stabilised at 2 per cent within a reasonable time. This may sound simple, but of course involves difficult trade-offs. Rising interest expenditure is tough for many households and companies. However, to refrain from raising the policy rate and risk inflation becoming entrenched at a level that is too high would in my opinion be even more costly for households and the economy in general. If we bring down inflation, we are paving the way for a good economic development and good employment,” says Thedéen.

During the day, Mr Thedéen will attend a seminar organised by the West Sweden Chamber of Commerce.
