Conference on the Economics of Central Bank Digital Currency

The Bank of Canada and Sveriges Riksbank are pleased to invite central bankers and academic researchers to a conference on the Economics of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), to be held October 17-18, 2019 at the Bank of Canada headquarters in Ottawa.

The event aims at providing a forum for central bankers and academic researchers to discuss the arguments for and against the issuance of CBDC and under what conditions, if any, governments should issue their own digital currencies.

Call for papers

The workshop will host a limited number of paper presentations to allow ample time for discussion and interaction.

  • 10 May 2019: papers submitted (extended abstracts will also be considered) in electronic format
  • 20 September 2019: submission of final versions of the selected papers
  • 28 June 2019: authors informed about the outcome of the review by the conference’s scientific committee
