Riksbank new member of international network for climate and financial systems

News The Riksbank has joined the Network for Greening the Financial System, NGFS. This is a group of central banks and financial supervisory authorities who cooperated by develop the analysis of environment and climate risk management in the financial sector.

The Riksbank has become a member of the Central Banks and Supervisors Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), where Sweden is also represented by Finansinspektionen. “We have been inspired by the work the NGFS has done already and we believe that there is much the Riksbank can learn and that we can also provide a meaningful contribution to the continued work of the Network. We are therefore pleased to be able to take part in this group,” says Governor Stefan Ingves.

At present, more than 20 central banks and supervisors around the world are exchanging experiences and sharing best practices to develop analysis of environment and climate risk management in the financial sector within the NGFS network. The purpose of the network is to define and highlight good examples of environment and climate risk management and work to encourage central banks, supervisors and companies within and outside of the network to begin using them.
