Riksbank publishes further information on its corporate bond purchases

News With the aim of further increasing transparency regarding the Riksbank’s purchases of securities, a list of prices and volumes for all of the Riksbank’s corporate bond purchases will be published for the first time today.

The list includes purchases made through bilateral proceedings and bid procedures. It covers the period from 16 September 2020, when the purchases were initiated, until 31 December 2020. The list will be updated monthly and published with a one month time lag.

On 31 December 2020, 50 companies had outstanding bonds that were eligible for purchase by the Riksbank. The Riksbank then owned between 0 and around 2 per cent of the respective company’s outstanding bonds that was eligible for purchase, or on average around 1 per cent.

Background

On 30 June 2020, the Executive Board decided that, within its programme for bond purchases, the Riksbank would offer to purchase corporate bonds to a nominal amount of SEK 10 billion between 1 September 2020 and 30 June 2021. The Riksbank has up to today’s date purchased corporate bonds for a total value of SEK 4.0 billion.
