Riksbank to open cash management office in Malmö

The Riksbank will open another cash management office in 2025, this time in Malmö. Like the offices in Broby, Jönköping, Umeå and Falun, the Malmö office will dispense cash to banks, bank-owned companies and cash-in-transit companies. A further office will be opened no later than 1 January 2026, either in Jämtland or Västernorrland county.

The Riksbank's task is to supply the country with banknotes and to ensure that the public can make payments even in peacetime crisis situations and in the event of heightened alert. According to the new Sveriges Riksbank Act, which entered into force on 1 January 2023, the Riksbank must operate at least five cash management offices in different parts of the country by 1 January 2026.
