Jesper Hansson new Head of Monetary Policy Department

Press release The Executive Board of the Riksbank has appointed Jesper Hansson as new Head of the Monetary Policy Department. Jesper Hansson is currently Director-General and Head of the Economic Affairs Department at the Swedish Ministry of Finance. He will take up the position no later than 1 January 2018.

"Jesper Hansson is a highly competent economist with long and broad experience of advanced forecasting and research work. I and my colleagues on the Executive Board are very pleased that Jesper Hansson will lead and develop the future work done in the Monetary Policy Department," says Riksbank Governor Stefan Ingves.

Previously, Jesper Hansson worked at the National Institute of Economic Research as Head of Forecasts. Before that, during the period 2005-2011, he held a number of positions at the Riksbank, including Deputy Head of the Monetary Policy Department. He will take up his new post no later than the end of the year.

Anders Vredin will continue as acting head of the Monetary Policy Department until Jesper Hansson takes up his new position. Anders Vredin will then return to his position as Head of the Riksbank's General Secretariat.
