Statistics

The Riksbank publishes information on exchange rates and market rates. We also compile some statistics on payments and turnover on the financial markets. The Riksbank's tasks include responsibility for Sweden’s statistics on the balance of payments and financial markets. These statistics are published by Statistics Sweden, on behalf of the Riksbank.

What do the values ​​mean?

Interest rate 

SWESTR (Swedish krona Short Term Rate) is always expressed to three decimal places. Read more on the page Calculation method and transaction dataset for SWESTR.

Value day for the interest rate

SWESTR is calculated on the basis of the previous banking day’s transactions and is therefore presented with a time lag of one day. The value day is the day the rate value refers to.

Publication day

SWESTR is published at 09.00 every banking day. If transaction data is received or validated late, the Riksbank has the possibility of updating the value at 12.00 on the same day, at which point it will become the new official value. However, an update of the interest rate listing will only be made if the deviation between the interest rate published at 09.00 and the new calculated interest rate exceeds two basis points.

Volume

The total transaction volume on which the calculation of SWESTR is based.

Number of transactions

Number of underlying transactions used for the calculation of SWESTR.

Number of reporting agents

Number of reporting agents that have contributed transaction data for the calculation of SWESTR.

Upper trimming boundary

Interest rate at the upper trimming boundary, which corresponds to the volume-weighted percentile 87.5 of the transaction dataset before trimming

Lower trimming boundary

Interest rate at the lower trimming boundary, which corresponds to the volume-weighted percentile 12.5 of the transaction dataset before trimming.

Calculation method

When the transaction dataset does not fulfil one or more robustness requirements, or in the case of technical problems, SWESTR will be calculated in an alternative manner. If this is the case, the reason for the alternative calculation method will be presented.

Search interest and exchange rates

Via the Riksbank's "Search interest rates and exchange rates" service, you can search for exchange-rate and interest-rate values. The interest rates are published at 09.10 and the exchange rates at 16.15 every Swedish banking day.
